1893 Brand Studio is Chapel Hill’s only student-run professional marketing agency. With over 50 employees and our finger on the pulse, we utilize our resources to partner with brands and power their growth. As we continue to grow with our clients, we often recognize the need for new, competitive marketing solutions that keep all of our stakeholders satisfied.
Launched in September 2021, 1893 Influencers is a new campus influencer network powered by 1893 Brand Studio and The Daily Tar Heel. UNC Students with a solid connection to the student body can now get paid to help businesses, brands and causes reach students through strategic campaign execution. Having worked with hundreds of businesses in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area, we have a wide range of client offerings for any type of partnership.

Program Details
UNC students with popular Instagram or TikTok accounts can apply to our program to partner with local businesses and get paid to promote their brand on social media.
All applications will be considered, but accounts with less than 1,000 followers or inappropriate content will almost always be declined.
If your application is approved, an 1893 employee will reach out to confirm you have been accepted into the 1893 Influencer network. You will be contacted again when we have your first campaign ready.
FAQs
How will I get paid?
Influencers will receive a contract before each campaign detailing the total pay and social agreements. Influencers will make a set amount per post that is agreed upon prior to the campaign. Influencers with a larger following may make more, and each case will be calculated individually based on follower count, engagement and type of post.
How will I know what to post?
If you are accepted into the 1893 Influencer program, an 1893 representative will set up a meeting with you to go over your first campaign. You will have a general guideline of what you need to post, but you will have the creative freedom to post what you think will garner the most engagement. All content must be reviewed and approved by 1893 before being posted.
How much can I earn?
Influencers who perform well will be given the opportunity to participate in more campaigns in the future. Depending on your engagement and the amount of campaigns you complete, you will earn competitive compensation in the influencer industry.
Note: Influencers who receive over $600 per year in compensation must pay federal income tax on their earnings by filling out a W9 form.
