Our Client
Bosh to the Bigs is a UNC baseball podcast produced in Chapel Hill by Boshamer Bulletin, an email newsletter and website covering all things Tar Heel baseball. Hosted by sports reporter Pat James and UNC broadcaster Kyle Straub, the show spotlights current and former UNC baseball players, coaches, and special guests. It’s available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and SoundCloud.
The Problem
While the podcast had strong content and insider access to the UNC baseball community, it lacked a polished brand identity and professional audio editing. Episodes were missing consistent intro/outro music, clear formatting and structure, background noise cleanup, filler music, and transitions. Bosh to the Bigs needed a consistent editor who could elevate the listening experience and brand cohesion to the overall production.
Our Strategy
1893 Brand Studio implemented a multi-step strategy to enhance the podcast’s production value and brand consistency. We conducted a full review of existing podcast episodes to identify technical and structural areas for improvement. We selected royalty-free music to serve as the podcast’s theme. Campaign Strategist and Account Services Director, Collin Pruitt, edited each episode using Adobe Audition. Collin worked closely with the hosts ensuring that each episode reflected the show’s tone and voice, while also improving their listening experience
Results
The impact of our work was immediate and measurable. Since we began editing in March 2021, Bosh to the Bigs experienced a consistent increase in listeners, peaking in May 2021 with approximately 250 downloads per month. The improved sound quality and formatting contributed to stronger listener engagement and retention.
Pat James, co-host of the podcast, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration, saying, “From ensuring our sound is up to par to making suggestions that improve the overall quality of our podcast, Collin is an invaluable member of our team. He cares about making a great show every time, and that’s evident in his work.”
While listener numbers dipped during the college baseball off-season, the upcoming return of UNC’s season in February is expected to bring renewed growth and engagement.
